Things are heating up here at Anthony Tyler Music.
Over the last three weeks or so I have been digging into recording vocals for Which Way to the Starlite and I have to write that things are going well. Very well, in fact. Whatever anxiety there was a couple of months ago, seems to be something left in the rearview...and I couldn't be more relieved.
There's one more song to record vocals for and then I begin the process of going through each and every performance to decide whether or not I keep it or re-record it. It's tedious and time-consuming, but this is truly going to be worth it. I can, in all honesty, write that Which Way to the Starlite is going to be my finest album to date.
So, as you've caught me in a good mood, I'm going to share the track listing with you:
1) The Starlite
2) When You Let Go
3) White Lines (for Michael Stanley)
4) Next Stop
5) Lucy
6) Fair Winds (Instrumental)
7) The Chance of Heartbreak
8) One Last Shot
9) You Do
10) Here and There
11) What Would They Say (Paul Williams)
Those are the songs and yes, track 11, What Would They Say is a cover of a Paul Williams song that I first heard when I was a kid watching an NBC television movie starring John Travolta in The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. For me, it's one of those songs that never leaves your memory and over the last several years I've found myself singing it in my head quite a bit. I also feel that it's fitting for the theme of The Starlite album.
A few months ago I was worried about a September release date (that I had set for myself). I'm hopeful that this album will be finished in time for a September release.
Here's to finishing with style...
In other news: Hot Child in the City, which can be found on my recent Yesterday's News (Selected songs from 1988-2020) release is making the rounds again. I don't know what it is about my take on that classic, but it's clearly catching the ear of many people right now. Look for it!!! Or, buy it here.
Stay tuned.
