Happy New Year to everyone! I'm a couple days late to the party, but that's par for the course... I went to bed early and didn't wake up until Monday morning - the last official day off of the season for us.
So, as '23 kicks into gear, we're left cleaning up the detritus of 2022. Maybe. In some cases, maybe. However, it was a year to remember for me, personally.
Obviously, the new album finally arrived. Which Way to the Starlite found its way to all the necessary streaming and download platforms. The CD is selling very well (a bit of a shock) and I have continued working on the follow-up to Which Way to the Starlite. The songs have been chosen (as of now there are 12) and I am writing lyrics like a mad man. The as-yet-untitled album will be out during the fall of this year.
But back to 2022...
It was filled with yet another move. A newly-built home. Two surgeries for Claire (one in March, another in June because...why not?!). Several months of Claire on crutches (ugh). Six months of physical therapy for Claire (ongoing). Tree planting. Lawn installation. House stuff. And the release of my 18th album and first in twenty years with me actually singing something.
This year is already a bit brighter (no surgeries planned, but that doesn't mean much). Fewer MRIs for me. Hopefully a bit of exercise and weight loss (ugh, ugh...). Some travel will occur. Some music here and there. Lots of laughter and getting older...and wider. I meant wiser.
In all seriousness, I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to stop by this site. I would also like to thank those of you who were daring enough to buy the new album on CD. That's incredibly generous and kind. I mean that. Many people ask me, "How do you want support from me?" And these people, gotta love 'em, mean it. So I tell them the truth: Follow me on whatever streaming platform you use AND buy a CD. Even if you don't have a compact disc player (which dammit, you should), buy it. Buy the download as well. I'm not kidding and I suggest that for every single artist you listen to. Supporting the arts is meaningful and important on a global scale. Do whatever you can.
Alrighty. Happy New Year to all.
Stay tuned...
